If there were a best rated home business, what criteria could be used to rate it?
Let’s have a look at some ideas to determine what a best rated home business is...
In this article I’m not using personal opinion or choice, instead I am rather going to use somewhat of a "scientific" method to determine what a best rated home business is – this way you will have an unbiased method to use when deciding on a home business.
For this exercise, let’s look at a proven business model - franchising. If you do even a little research, you’ll find that the franchise business model has and does enjoy a high rate of success. Of course, buying a franchise costs mega-bucks, and for this exercise we’re even going to consider the cost aspect. Let’s look at what is offered when investing in a franchise...
Training. Training in all aspects of the franchise is offered, and allows the franchisee to feel confident in running the business. The top franchises also offer on-going training.
Support. As an entrepreneur, it can be frightening starting and running your own business. As a franchisee, the entrepreneur can rest assured that there is on-going support.
Marketing. Top franchises offer different forms of marketing to assist the franchisee – there will probably be TV ads, radio, newspaper, and magazine ads. It’s also common to have head office print catalogues and/or brochures, and supply these to the franchisee (at a nominal cost).
Proven Business Model. Doing just basic research you will find that the franchise business model is a proven model. There are national franchise associations in many countries, and these bodies maintain a high level of professionalism. This enables the franchisee to benefit from the collective experience of many years.
Now, when you consider what a best rated home business is, would you say it should offer something similar to the franchise business model, to be considered as "best rated"?
Doing your research, check what kind of training the home business opportunity or company offers.
When you investigate any business opportunity, and any of the above is either absent, or of low quality, think twice whether it can be classed as a best rated home business. Above all else any home business opportunity worthy of being considered as best rated needs to be totally hype free, that is, there should be no hint of getting rich quick.
What should you look out for in the hype area?
Anything that mentions "quick returns", and certainly anything that mentions (or even hints at) "no effort and easy", should really be steered clear of.
