Planning a home business can be quite easy – it all depends on what the business is, and what you want to achieve with it.

There are a few things that are very different to planning a full time small business.

The first two things you should consider before you start the planning of your home business is whether you're going to be running it as a part-time or full time venture. One of the big things in running a part-time home business is time management.

We often think that because it's a home business, we don't need to do any planning.

Sure, there's no need to create a detailed and complex plan, but a basic plan can help you start your home business on the right foot, and that can help you further down the road, especially with the running of your business.

Planning your home business can be as basic as asking these questions:

• What are you going to do?
• Where are you going to do it?
• What do you need to operate your home business?
• How will you get your home business known?

As I mentioned earlier, it all depends on what your business is – for example, if you’re going to be making wooden dollhouses, you would need a plan for equipment, materials, delivery, etc. But if you were going to offer a bookkeeping service, then your planning would be very different.
