Running Your Home Business

Running a home business does have some unique aspects that are different to running a formal small business. Possibly the biggest of these are effective time management. Although I'm not a big believer in time management - I mean, how do you manage something that you actually don't have total control over, right?

It’s more about an awareness of how your time is spent, and making sure wastage of your time is minimal.

Running a home business usually means the other home tasks still need to be done, like kids to school, making food, cleaning, etc. So, if you don't plan your days (weeks, months) it can be a very stressful exercise.

Not to worry.

It's really not that hard.

Another thing with running a home business, is that it’s almost certain you’ll end up doing everything (or you may have a family member who helps). This is not as bad as it sounds – with a little planning, and keeping your eye on the ball, your business can run smoothly.

Part of keeping your eye on the ball is to check how you spend your time, and to make sure that you are busy with productive tasks – doing the things that grow your business. Time wastage can be a negative in any home business.
